Hello, hello!

Hi, moms! My name is Michelle Caver, and I am thrilled to join the Polk County Health Center family. As the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor for over 9 years, Traci Volcko did an amazing job educating and supporting pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, including me. She left me large shoes to fill, but I hope to continue serving the community as well as she did. Thank you for your hard work and dedication, Traci!

I wanted to further introduce myself, and tell you a little bit about me. I’m Michelle, and I’m from Houston, Texas. I’m 23 years old, and currently an OTC Springfield student. I’ll finally be graduating next May. I’m also Lily’s mom, and Josh’s wife. I love my little family more than I could ever explain to you in words. Josh and I started dating 6 years ago; we’ve been married for almost 4, and welcomed our sweet girl to the team 9.5 months ago. My husband, Josh, moved to Bolivar in 2011 after accepting a football scholarship to SBU, and I joined him here after we were married on New Year’s Eve, 2011. We’ve come to really love and appreciate Bolivar as our home. My whole family is in Texas, so I have experienced the joy in not having to share my baby, and the hard times of being all alone as a new mom.

Fast-forward to my new life as MOM. I think most you can relate to me when I say it’s the coolest, nastiest, craziest, and most rewarding job on the planet! I won’t lie and say it’s been easy for me because it so has not, but the bond and love I have for my child is unbreakable. I sincerely credit breastfeeding for helping me more deeply connect with my Lily. Now that she is considered an older baby (insert hysterical crying here) I greatly appreciate the countless health benefits breast milk has given my baby. She is so healthy, strong, and intelligent.

I’m a breastfeeding advocate for more than the health benefits for both mom and baby. I also love the convenience, the relationship, and the empowerment breastfeeding gives me. I am empowered because I’m using my body to its fullest capacity to nourish my child. What an amazing feeling! I may not always be in the office, but I am just a call away, day or night. I truly mean it when I say, “My door cell phone is ALWAYS open.” As mothers, we are real-life superwomen, but everyone needs a little support every now and then. I can’t wait to help you feel empowered as a breastfeeding mom. Please stop by my office or call anytime!
